04 Jul Message from the Director
This year’s Green Screen Film Festival is a bittersweet one. Even as we plan and get ready to host this 10th Anniversary celebration, it’s against a backdrop of a lot of distress and uncertainty both at home and abroad.
When we first started Sustain T&T and Green Screen, we knew that we wanted to take our passion for film and an interest in environmental sustainability, and put them together to create something positive. We’ve seen those passions grow and become so much more than we could have imagined. We’ve witnessed young Trinbagonians get inspired to change the world, we’ve seen private and public sector partners come on board and give support. We’ve seen local filmmakers create amazing new content and we’ve had international interest in the work we do. All of this has reminded us that while climate change remains a serious threat, it’s not completely hopeless. In some ways, COVID-19 is what we’ve been preparing for, an event that forces us to re-think just about everything about how we live.
What will we make of this New Normal? Perhaps it’s too early to say, but we hope that Green Screen, through the films, the conversations and the programming can help us stay focused on supporting each other to seek and find solutions.
Enjoy the 2020 Green Screen Film Festival!
