What is a Very Short Short Mobile (VSS) film?

A very short short film is a one (1) minute film shot entirely on a mobile device.

How do I submit a film to the Very Short Shorts Mobile Film Competition (VSS)?

Submitting a film to the competition is easy. Click this link, Submit My VSS Film  and then click the Submit Now button at the top right of the page.

Is there an age limit?

No! This competition is for ALL ages! Anyone can enter.

Are there any restrictions on how many shorts an individual can enter into the competition?

You can enter as many times as you like.

What are the rules and guidelines for the VSS competition?

Can an updated version of a short be re-submitted?

Yes, you can upload an updated version of your short as long as it is submitted prior to the deadline. The latest version will be used.

What are the categories for the Very Short Shorts Mobile Film Competition (VSS)?

The categories are People’s Choice, Youth Jury  and Overall Jury.

The Overall Jury Award is given to the highest scoring project regardless of the age of the filmmaker. 

The Youth Jury Award will be the highest scoring film project from people ages 12 to 25 years old.

People’s Choice Award is determined by audience voting usually via a facebook voting app.

What are the prizes?

  3. The People’s Choice Award, All Ages – Presented by SWMCOL

How are prizes awarded?

  1. The Overall Winner is based on cumulative jury points.
  2. Youth Jury Award is based on cumulative jury points of filmmakers between the ages of 12-25 years.
  3. People’s Choice is awarded by audience votes.

What is Green Screen?

We are an environmental and sustainability foucssed film festival. We share stories from across the Caribbean and the world through a mobile film competition, educational sessions for schools and host events like panel discussions and film screenings both online and in the community.

What type of films can be submitted to GSEFF?

All types of environmental films are welcomed. They can take many formats such as animations, shorts, narrative, documentary or even experimental

Are there prizes?

Yes! Best Trinidad & Tobago Film In Competition (any format) & Best International Film in Competition (any format) both attract cash prizes.

Is there any limit to the amount of entries from one submitter?

You can enter as many films as you like.

Can the same film be submitted for the Very Short Shorts Mobile Film Competition (VSS) and GSEFF?

The same film submission should not be submitted for both VSS and GSEFF. They have very different criteria and your project may be rejected.

Can you work in teams or groups to submit a film?

You can work as a solo filmmaker or in teams
